Take corrective action if your fish are
showing distress from a drastic pH change (e.g. gasping at the surface,
rapid gill breathing, darting about the tank, hiding, sluggish behavior,
poor appetite and/or refusal to eat).
Corrective action includes performing a
10% water change without disturbing the gravel.
Any pH adjustments that are made by partial
water changes should be made at no more than 0.2-0.3 in a 24 hour
period of time.
Do not use pH adjustors to alter the pH
because the change may be unpredictable and too drastic. pH adjustors
tend to bounce the pH around, which is very stressful on fish.
